TitanFall 2 will be an Xbox One exclusive

#51teehee23Posted 3/11/2014 10:18:11 AM
We just emailed Microsoft and advised them that Titanfall 2 should be Xbox #1 eXclusive.
We have a strong voice with them and we believe so it shall be done.

You're welcome.

We believe Jack Tretton quit working at Sony to play more Titanfall on Xbox #1.

Unless MS doesn't buy EA or Respawn it won't.

Azure and cloud servers are essential for this version of Titanfall, nothing more.

Lol no they're not. Stop falling for this marketing nonsense.

Even if they were, Azure is Microsoft's generic cloud server solution. Those servers don't care what system is hitting it. There's no reason Respawn couldn't use Azure to run dedicated servers for PS4 aside from Microsoft just not allowing them access.

Also, Titanfall wasn't even supposed to be exclusive, so why the hell would Titanfall 2 be, when Respawn no longer needs to deal with EA's shenanigans?

Unless MS fork over some serious $$$, then TF2 will come to PS4.
Rackspace is expanding their server capacity to accomodate Sony's needs. Of course these things don't happen overnight, and Rackspace really need to spped things up, if they're to catch MS's 10:1 lead in server capacity.
However if Respawn can keep EA at bay, it should be a good 2 years before TF2 is released, giving Rackspace some much needed time.

The fact Titanfall started as a multiplatform game tells you it has nothing to do with the servers.

According to Respawn Entertainment's Jon Shiring (engineer working on the cloud tech) it had everything to do with the server setup MS provided.

I personally talked to both Microsoft and Sony and explained that we need to find a way to have potentially hundreds-of-thousands of dedicated servers at a price point that you canít get right now. Microsoft realized that player-hosted servers are actually holding back online gaming and that this is something that they could help solve, and ran full-speed with this idea.

Good job generalizing and assuming everyone that said one of those also said the other, but whatever.

Respawn even said only the first game was really exclusive. They didn't even know that it was going to be exclusive until super late in the development anyway, so there is no reason the sequel can't/won't be on PS4.

Sony has been using dedicated servers WAY before MS was.

Literally, wrong.

Actually, he's right.

The problem is they are not Sony's servers, but the developers. Yes Sony has allowed dedicated servers on the ps3 and ps4, but Sony doesn't own or operate them. Call of Duty and BF use dedicated servers, but they are owned and operated by Activision and EA and we've seen how reliable those servers are.

Almost all of the PS3's first party(owned by Sony) games had dedicated servers(operated by Sony) for online multiplayer while almost none of the 360's entire library did even though everyone had to pay for Gold. They only just recently shut down the servers for R:FoM which was a launch title.
