I heard it hurts picture quality .... is that true ?

Id really like to use this feature though hopefully it really doesnt reduce quality

for the people that do this how are you set up ? an hdmi from cable box to the X1 hdmi input ?

I have Direct TV and have not noticed any reduced quality. I do however have a small issue. I use the genie from Direct TV and for some reason when I fast forward I do get a progress bar and the video itself pauses. But once I hit play it has fast forward. Its a small annoyance as I don't use that feature very often.

Yes an HDMI cable through the X1 then one to the TV. My TV has no noticeable picture quality dip.

I have noticed the picture quality is slightly worse than before when I had it going straight to the TV, but it's something I rarely ever notice.

it looks the same to me on my HD TV using my DirecTV HD Recievers and gold plated Vizio HDMI cables... I had it hooked up both ways as well.

When I first got my Xbox it looked horrible... but it turned out to be a setting on my TV. Some TVs have individual settings for each HDMI port, that setting being PC/Video source(basically RGB settings). Make sure the HDMI port your Xbox One is plugged into is set to PC, or the RGB range equivalent to PC. Apparently the console broadcasts as a PC device and not video. Once I fixed that the picture quality looked fantastic.

no noticeable degradation via my cisco dvr. i've compared it twice since launch, after updates. my buddy has noticed problems with the image freezing during ff and rew on his directv.
