The human eye is incapable of reliably distinguishing any detail finer than 720p

Man I guess I must just be crazy since my 2k monitor looks better and sharper then any display in the house. ugh why am I even responding to such an obvious and DUMB troll topic...what have I come to.

Forget 1080p and 4k, heres proof.

The resolution of our eyes is 12 vertical lines per arc angle (one line per arcminute for 20/20 acuity) times 2. Now 28 degrees x 12 lines x 2 = 672. This means we really can't see a display component (pixel) smaller than 1/672 x image width. Our minimum resolvable element size is about 0.065", or about twice the size of the pixels of the WXGA image! Put bluntly, from 8 feet away while watching a 50 inch plasma TV, the human eye is generally incapable of reliably distinguishing any detail finer than that shown on a true 720p display!

This is absolutely stupid

I really wish 1080p was standard this gen so we won't have 720p reassurance topics all the time.

That's understandable but you should see iPhoneys making fools out of themselves trying to argue that higher resolution is a bad thing when it is pointed out that iPhones have sub-HD screens.

Was going to post it but somebody beat me to it. Everyone here should watch this video.

TL;DR: Resolution matters, up to a specific distance. Beyond certain distances, your eye is physically incapable of providing enough information to your brain for it to begin discerning between some resolutions.

Not everyone with a difference of opinion or that offers criticisms is a troll.

That's a typical iPhoney response when it is pointed out that the iPhone does not allow software to be sideloaded.

I still play my PS3 often so I think I'll be able to adjust to Xbones resolution without much trouble from my eyes.
