The 450 price drop is now permanent, all confirmed on microsoft store.
"Omg too expensive! They need to drop the price to compete!"
"Omg how desperate! What a terrible idea!"
The Forza 5 bundle is currently $400 through Amazon. Microsoft has to be losing a ton of money right now. $100 below regular price plus a free first party game? This cannot be a good thing for Microsoft. Do you guys think this is just to close the gap to the PS4/keep devs interested?

I didnt realize all but confirmed means its confirmed
Did they apologize though? Most are waiting for an apology for trying to ruin gaming and spying.

Btw, misleading topic title AND article. The whole article is speculation based on MS Store matching the Walmart/BB sales...because we all know they never have any kind of promotions.
It could end up turning into a permanent price drop but I really doubt it.
is this the fastest price drop in console history?

Dropping the price shows desperation. It shows that they know they really need to close the gap. If it's a bad thing who knows time will only tell. Look at Nintendo they dropped the price of the 3ds and that thing is selling like crazy now. Personally I think they would have been better off making a bundle without the kinect and dropping it $100 and leaving the regular bundle at $500 with Titanfall included. It would have gotten more people buying the $500 model anyway while maybe selling to the few who really don't want the kinect. IMHO that would have been a better strategy.

They arent gonna get rid of the kinect though
As has been repeatedly stated on these boards, game companies don't really make profit off console sales, it's all about the software so this won't really hurt them. They were already making a small profit anyway so the loss won't be that much, and even if it was they can afford it. If anything, the potential of how many more consoles this will move gives dev even more incentive to make games for X1. Third party support hasn't been a problem for them since 360 launched, and it certainly won't start because of a price drop. Lastly, the high attach rate of MS consoles will pretty much seal the deal for any devs left on the fence. X1 will be fine.

$450 works fine since they're still including Titanfall with systems, you're basically getting the system for $400, Titanfall for $50 ($10 off the normal price), and Kinect for free. So even if you don't want it you can justify that you didn't actually pay anything extra.
