What if... what if the price drop was planned all along?

Not saying this isn't true but where do you get the information that microsofts goal this generation was to push Sony out the market?

Microsoft's goal is always to drive competitors out of business. It's how they do business. The antitrust court cases are enough to establish that.

Beyond that, I believe it to be a reasonable conclusion based on their pre-launch actions and policies. They were extremely aggressive in pursuing policies that benefit big publishers at the expense of consumers and independent developers while being just as aggressive in pursuing exclusivity deals from those big publishers.

There's only one reason to make your console more appealing to publishers at the expense of consumers: to give yourself a better position from which to negotiate exclusivity deals. They were trying to cut Sony out of the majority of mainstream gaming which, these days, would likely lead to the death of the console (see: Nintendo).

Kind alike how the PSP Go was priced super high at first for the sole purpose of exploiting early adopters? wouldn't surprise me.

Actually the PSP Go only got reduced so fast because of how unpopular it was. Seems people didn't want a digital only handheld console.

just like another system that got price reduced after 4 months?
