Oddworld New 'n' Tasty! You buying?

#21teeebzPosted 3/26/2014 10:52:13 AM
I wish they'd make another 3d odd world like they did for original xbox. I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed odd world on my ps1 as well but I doubt I'll rebuy it.

It'd be great to make a brand new game they intertwined both play styles...

I just replayed Exoddus a couple weeks ago, forgot how awesome those games were. But $30 is a little steep...I'll grab it when it goes on sale.

I got a good laugh out of the stupidity of the author of this article:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/26/oddworld-creator-lashes-ea-talks-abeas-oddysee-remake

The article is titled Oddworld Creator Lashes EA, Talks Abes Oddysee Remake with the subtitle: Lorne Lanning blasts EA over BF4 missteps, stresses New 'n' Tasty is "not a f****** HD remake.

The 2nd sentence of the article reads:
We still see press calling it an HD remake, and its not a f***** HD remake, the Oddworld Inhabitants co-founder told VG247.

Awesome job titling your article Luke Reily of IGN! Way to show that you can't read apparently.

ALL games should have a Single Player mode. I can always guarantee I want to play when I turn on my system. I can't guarantee others will at the same time.

I liked the first game a lot.. but I don't think it's worth 30 dollars.. even for as nice as they made it. I was honestly fully expecting a price of like 14.99. lol I'll get it later on when money is absolutely no object though I guess.

Sorry TC it is not coming to the 360. It was cancelled last year.

They are "in talks" with Microsoft but they have been saying that for years and Microsoft won't budge on it's policies.

The article you quote is from June 2013, before Microsoft let developers self-publish. Here is a more recent article, although just a blog it makes more sense. They can put it on Xbox One, if they want to without any policies stopping them.

But they have been saying the remakes might come to the 360 for years and nothing has happened. They are still stuck on the same policy the 360 had. If there is an Xbox One version they will have to delay the game to make it as it is required under the indie policies.

Not as new as your article but more information

What policies are you referring to?

Microsoft has changed their indie publishing policies with ID@Xbox and dropped the patching fee, along with other things.

Strangers' Wrath was a fun, quirky, cool little FPS. They remade it for PS3 and now are talking about remaking it again for PS4. Hopefully they consider X1 this time around -- day one purchase for me if so. I held onto my Xbox version of the game and kept hoping it would make the BC list for X360, unfortunately it never did.

I do like your idea of combining FPS and puzzle elements. As long as it isn't as simple as ... now Abe has a gun (FPS), now he doesn't (puzzle).

Of all the interviews I read that involve peeps from Don't Add Water it just strikes me that they are devs who get gamers, value the industry, and actually understand the consumer. So yes I'll definitely purchase a copy to support them.

I'll happily buy any Oddworld game. Their creative style is severely lacking in games today.

I'd love them to do a new game. Strangers wrath is up there with my favorite games ever,

The game still has to be released at the same time or before the others on the Xbox. They are a small studio and having to delay the game another 6 months will hurt them. That policy has alway been a sticking point for the developer.
