You are all aware that it isn't Microsoft lowering the price right? It is the retailers that are cutting the price to sell units. The MSRP of the X1 is still 500 according to MS. This is why when you go to Best Buy's website you get that stupid "see price in cart" crap.

My guess? All those "sales" were really shipments, and now retailers can't get rid of 'em.

Microsoft's reported sales are always units shipped, so you may not be far off.

Units shipped are sales for Microsoft. After that, it's no longer Microsoft's problem but the retailers' problem.

Yes, but having those units move off of the shelves so that the retailers will buy more units from Microsoft is Microsoft's problem. It is in Microsoft's best interest to have stock constantly moving though the purchase chain.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.

You keep believing that. Just like GM kept believing that in regards to cars shipped to dealerships.

It didn't stop them from nearly going bankrupt and needing a bailout.

Why? Cause once the dealer's parking lot is full... or the store's shelves are full, they don't order any more from the producer.

lol, this has to be embarrassing for Microsoft

Didn't realize putting your product on sale and having them sell is bad. Remember how the ps3's price drop helped it? Well here you go.

The xbox has sold millions of consoles in 5 months. There's nothing to worry about. Lol.

That's exactly what they said about the Wii U that is still ahead in sales.
