Xbox boss: Microsoft won't sell us off

Doesn't change facts. Of course he isn't going to say "There is a fair chance the Xbox brand could be sold off" because that would destroy any consumer confidence that remains.

Note : This is not to say its going to happen. But the possibility is there.

Microsoft has nothing to gain by dumping the Xbox brand. They've invested far too much into it and have built a stable of strong IP's. Plus imagine how pissed developers and consumers would be if this did happen...

Xbox is like a old car to MS, just because you keep throwing money at it, doesn't mean the car will ever run right and at some point you just need to cut your loses and sell the car or junk it.

Saying "Xbox is the most relevant brand" makes you lose all credibility. If he wanted this article to renew faith in the brand he would have addressed the question appropriately. For instance address the investors wanting to sell the X1 division. Explain why they want to do that and explain why its a bad idea.

All this article is doing is saying a bunch of stuff with edge basically accepting their answers at face value.

This. It's just all PR fluff.

Edge didn't push the question harder because it was never a serious question to begin with. Only fanboys ever thought this was an actual possibility.

Course they aren't going to sell it! Honestly he is telling the truth, it's the biggest thing in the consumer line for them. Think about it, who in the heck buys windows phones? They have like under 2% share, they AREN'T popular. No one really wants the surface tablets, they are farrrr from a iPad in quality and OS. Even on Windows, I bet IF more people could afford Mac they would lose a ton there too.

Microsoft doesn't have consumer confidence. Ask the average person about MS. They NEED the x1 to dominate the living room. Once you control the entertainment you are in. Unfortunately in MY opinion they are doing it all wrong. They could have easily knocked Sony off the planet but they didn't.

Saying xbox is the most relevant product for consumers isn't saying much considering all their other consumer electronics are completely irrelevant.
