Saying "Xbox is the most relevant brand" makes you lose all credibility. If he wanted this article to renew faith in the brand he would have addressed the question appropriately. For isntance address the investors wanting to sell the X1 division. Explain why they want to do that and explain why its a bad idea.

All this article is doing is saying a bunch of stuff with edge basically accepting their answers at face value.

The only thing lacking any "credibility" here is apparently your reading comprehension.

The full quote is ".Xbox is maybe the most relevant brand that Microsoft has with consumers today,". He's simply saying that in Microsofts stable of products, the XB brand is the most relevant and with the popularity of tablets over laptops / desktops (running Windows) increasing, I'd say he's probably right.

Windows still has a crushing control of the market. Method is right, blatantly lying in the first sentence is not a good way to reassure people.

Umm, PC sales are way down, so I really don't get your "crushing control of the market" theory. What market would that be? The one that's seeing an all time decline?

First figure out what the **** you're talking about, then get back to me. I'll go ahead and provide you with a link....

This is just another example of anything said by MS being blown out of proportion....taken out of context (and probably more accurate: a failure to even understand the context by some).

U guys realize sony will likely be selling the playstation brand before they go bankrupt right? Sonys stock rating is junk.

U do realize MS will likely be selling the Xbox brand before losing billions more dollars right? MS isn't making any money with the Xbox One.

Yea because a "contributor" to Forbes is a reliable place to get your infomation.

I posted a link from Forbes, just like your fellow fanboy chrish did. It's funny that I don't see you commenting on his "reliable" link though. So is the website reliable or not? There's so much flip flopping going on here it's hard to keep track.

Microsoft really needs to stop these reassurance interviews and show some actual confidence in the product.

I agree, like lowering the price of the console to stay competitive

You do realize that in fact shows a lack of confidence in the product...

From your first article : PC sales sagged to 316 million units overall, and 82.6 million units in the fourth quarter of 2013.

From your second article : Global PC shipments totaled 82.2 million units in the fourth quarter of 2013.

And your third article : IDC expects PC unit sales of about 314.8 million, which is on pair with 2008 sales figures.

Now. Remind me how many Xbox One were sold, 2013 and 2014 combined ?

"PC sales are way down", "What market would that be?" ... talk about a failure to understand context.

Sony is going bankrupt. So it is nowhere near the same.
#36VirobotPosted 4/12/2014 6:34:40 AM
Why don't they just cut the umbilical cord already and release a Kinectless Bone. I'd buy one right away. They're hanging on to this thing like grim death.

But they know what's best for us. Or so they think.

The context is that the Xbox brand is (and I quote) " maybe the most relevant brand that Microsoft has with consumers today ."

And he's right.....the PC market is at an all time decline while the XB1 has sold more (despite all its flaws and missteps at launch) then its previous iterations during the same time frame.

PC is trending down while the XB is trending up....its not that difficult to grasp tbqh.

Course they aren't going to sell it! Honestly he is telling the truth, it's the biggest thing in the consumer line for them. Think about it, who in the heck buys windows phones? They have like under 2% share, they AREN'T popular. No one really wants the surface tablets, they are farrrr from a iPad in quality and OS. Even on Windows, I bet IF more people could afford Mac they would lose a ton there too.

Microsoft doesn't have consumer confidence. Ask the average person about MS. They NEED the x1 to dominate the living room. Once you control the entertainment you are in. Unfortunately in MY opinion they are doing it all wrong. They could have easily knocked Sony off the planet but they didn't.

This post is completely wrong.

And before any panties get twisted up with rustled jimmies, this isn't to say that the Windows PC is irrelevant by any stretch, that just as of today the XB brand is maybe more relevant.....

From the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary:

relevant
adj
1. connect with what is happening or being discussed

........with an expanding market as of today than the Windows PC with a declining market is.... today .

Again, not extraordinarily complex concepts to grasp IMHO.
