Most of the time, I watch people play and they smash their meat hands on the controller or "modded" controller and hope for the best. Usually they spout one word expletives or incoherent grunt noises whilst playing.

So I've played a few, but I don't find any fun in that genre. What about fighting games attracts you to the genre. Is it this random smashing? or can someone actually tell me there is skill involved.

Lol nice sig you have bizzare taste. Just accept that you're different and will never get it.

Ok, I agree.

The higher level play. The strategies that people use, the quick adapting, the mind games, the set ups, the high execution, etc. Then there's the unique casts they have. How many games let you play as a doctor wearing a snazzy suit and a paper bag over their head with attacks that include sprouting flowers, tossing smaller versions of yourself, or the occasional nuclear explosion? Heck. Even characters with similar abilities can play completely differently and that's just awesome. Jin Kisaragi and Sub-Zero are both ice specialists, but are completely different.

If you stop watching mashers play and go watch people like Fuudo, Kaqn, Speedkicks, Xcalibur Bladez, Sodam, or any other number of players who are really good and you may get a bit more appreciation. I know I get the urge to play some Tekken Tag 2 whenever I see Only Practice's Lars/Nina team.

freaking this!

idk know why people would like killer instinct

but games like mortal kombat and street fighter reward you for skill and precision.

when you really learn a character, he is almost an extension of you. So if you see someone duck a high kick, then jump over a sweep...it's the closest you will ever get to doing martial arts yourself...feels great too

I have killer instinct...it's garbage in my opinion

I like fighting games, mainly Tekken and soul calibur. Tekken 2 was the first game I owned for ps1.

I don't think the new fighters have anything on the old ones. My favourite would be soul calibur 2 (xbox), Tekken 3 (ps1) and the old school street fighter games.

Killer Instinct is more technical than MK IMO, and I'm a long time MK fan. There are a ton mind games to be played in the new KI with all the meta games going on. Between both combo breakers and counter breakers. You can really mess with people.

I was playing a match and was lossing badly, I started to come back and realized the guy was breaking me in the same spot, so I counter broke him, then popped instinct and counter broke him again when he came out of the first lock-out. Blowing him up for 60%+ damage and winning the match. The guy probably thought he had the match won.

Just wait until EVO. I have a feeling there are going to be some huge upsets in the game.
