Board question...

Why are there topics with the author name out in front, in brackets?

For example:

[Jimmy7363] Titanfall Raider 60fps

Does GameFAQs do that, or is it the choice of the author?

They are egotists and are goading people into their topics. I find it immensely amusing to be quite honest.

They put it out front so you know to ignore the topic.

I asked this same question earlier and got modded that it was off topic even though it pertained to this board.

I assumed it was so they could find it at a later date by searching their name.

Hmm... indeed, quite true. Wouldn't it just be easier to hit "Track", though?

It's also easier to search topics created by them since their name is in the title. They want all the glory and fame gamefaqs will provide....sadly its probably the most exciting thing going on in their lives so they need to feed, consume and grow their fanboy charm.
