Yet Titanfall on XB1 with a much lower userbase outsells Infamous SS by a good amount - Sony's only major exclusive in a large window.

How come Playstation owners don't buy exclusive video games? Do they just want a 1080p netflix and FIFA device? This is like when Halo 3 outsold nearly every PS3 exclusive combined at the time.

I'm going to laugh so hard when Halo 5 wipes the floor in sales despite being on the slower selling system.

Over a million copies in 9 days on a single console. And Titanfall is barely over a million, in more time being out, on X1 AND PC, and of course now also 360. Yeah, real fair comparison there genius.

A better question would be why aren't people with X1s going out en masse to buy the game that was so hyped up? Even according to the unreliable chartz, Titanfall has only sold just under 225,000 more than Infamous with an extra week and a half of release, because of course remember Infamous came out on a Friday.

I'd hardly call 225,000 a good amount, especially with being out longer and being such a hyped up game as well. Not to mention, it was packed in with cheaper consoles whereas Infamous sales were all garnered by people already with a PS4, it didn't require a pack in to reach those numbers.

even though u sound like just another xfanbot i agree with you, TC, that sony players dont seem to buy exclusives. I think majority of them stick to COD or madden. Sony customers are cheapskates

I don't think it has anything to do with exclusives. It seems the Sony fanbase on average don't seem to buy a lot of games in general.

Back on the PS3, the attach rate with software was much lower than 360 for whatever reason. Same trend seems to be happening now.

Haven't all multiplat games sold better on the PS4? I'm not sure but I think they have. I know TR did for a fact and PS4 also has more active users on BF4 by a good amount.

Attach rate is average per console. I think a lot of multiplat games have sold better on PS4 (except Call of Duty? I think that sold more on X1, unsure). But the PS4 has also sold more consoles. So even if they sell more multiplats, the X1 could potentially have a higher attach rate if they are selling right behind them with a smaller base.

I think I recall reports from early in the year saying that the attach rate of the PS4 is rising though, and there isn't any announced reports of attach rate currently from Sony and MS. So, this is all speculation of course. But could be one potential reason we see lower numbers on exclusives.

But at the end of the day, we are super early in this year and generation, so lots of things can happen.

Mario Kart Wii sold 3 times the copies.

Good point, though Wii and PS3/360 had very different audiences.

You have an excuse for every point against what you claim...

Not excuses, just reasons why the comparisons aren't exactly eye to eye.

The original question is why PS exclusives don't sell compared to XB exclusives (which are two similiar markets). Bringing SNES games and Wii games into the equation doesn't really answer the question.

Halo is the only Microsoft IP that sells like that. Gran Turismo usually does the same or better for PlayStation. Uncharted, God Of War, Little Big Planet are all on par with any other Xbox exclusives. Gears of War Judgement sold barely a million last year while The Last Of Us as new IP sold 6 million so far. No one cares what Halo 3 did six years ago....

Also Killzone Shadow Fall is the still the best-selling exclusive so far this generation....Titanfall is not exclusive so it can't take that crown, but inFAMOUS Second Son might.

Ugh... dude, go check out the Killzone Shadowfall sales It outsold quite a few actually exclusive XB One games. inFamous Second Son sold over a million copies already. Just because it didn't outsell Titanfall doesn't mean exclusive don't sell and playstation owners don't buy exclusive games. Bad logic is bad and you should feel bad.

Furthermore, Titanfall is not exclusive to the xbox one. For the 99318913859195012th time

too much fact

You know that these numbers show that MS has a higher attach rate, right? Which seems to indicate why their exclusives may sell more, which is what people are arguing in the title?

With the numbers you provided:

Sony: At 7 million worldwide, attach rate is 2.28
MS: At potentially 5 million worldwide, attach rate is 2.43

If you think the Xbox One sold less than 5 million, then it has an even higher attach rate. If it sold 5.5 million or more, then it does have a smaller attach rate, but that would indicate that it is rapidly gaining ground on Sony in console sales.

So, yes, this indicates that the Sony fan base is buying less games for whatever reason...

i can just see it now

ps4 continuing to disown the xbox 720p week after week all year long in hardware and software sales, while the 720 bone fanboys spend the whole year waiting for halo to drop, (their next exclusive to look forward to) all while herping their derp about their exclusives

dont mind me but ryse, plants vs zombies, dead rising 3, and forza 5 isnt really much to brag about when it comes to exclusives. i dont even know how they call it a forza game with all of the content they cut out of it. maybe one day theyll bring back the nurburgring and sell it back to us for $20. maybe even throw in a couple free cars with it if theyre feeling generous.

not that the ps4 library is much better. but the list on the xbox 720p is rather uninspiring and plain. i mean if the exclusives are so great, why is microsoft having such a hard time selling hardware and games if all these exclusives are just as awesome as the fanboys try to make them out to be? or are they only a good game in their opinion, because its not on the other console, therefore it must be something worth bragging about? thats the impression that i get.

i mean apparently the ps4 has no games and people only buy it to. according to the fanboys anyways, but if thats the case, why do they have a bigger library and a commanding lead on game sales every week? i mean considering how much microsoft is struggling to sell its games, despite all the money they invested trying to hype up titanfall, you could spin it the other way and make a claim that people must only buy the 720 bone just to watch tv and play with their kinect.

oh well. at least theres halo to look forward to next year some time.
