The PS2. I'm 31, so any console that came out before that was before I was old enough to work. Hard to believe that was 14 years ago.

I just turned 30 this month. I bought my second Dreamcast when I was 18. My first one was a gift from my mom, but it died. Every console from then on was bought by me.

Atari 2600, love that system. First one I bought that I hadn't previously played due to my dad was either the Jaguar or the GBA.
