I really want an xb1 but my brother believes the kinect is a government spy device and refuses to let me get one in the house.. A kid in walmart told me xb1 is not worth it because the kinect is still needed, is this true? Can anyone set up and play their xb1 without the kinect??

You don't need to plug in the Kinect to use an Xbox One. It works without it.

Hah!

The Kinect is not needed at all. Mine is still sitting in the corner (with a dunce hat on), waiting for a reason to be plugged in.
