Kinectless Xbox One, is it really needed?

T'is a hard one.

Personally, I have no qualms with the Kinect itself. It would be used by myself, more so by the family and possibly even the children if they release something like Kinectimals. For me, it's just the price. Is it so high because of Kinect? Probably. I'll just wait for it to have a few more games specific to it is all.

It seems the majority doesn't want it included. I suppose they should be the ones catered for, if Microsoft wants to turn things around, if they think doing so will...

Honestly though, I don't think the removal of Kinect will sway people still. From what I've seen from a few places, there is a deep seeded dislike towards the whole thing, giving them what they want still won't get them to buy the One. There isn't no guarantee. As far as I'm concerned it's all just talk.

And for that, I would actually so no, a Kinectless Xbox One isn't needed. Let Microsoft stick to their original vision with including Kinect with every console. It's done.

Let the games do the talking.

As has been repeated many, many times by now, it would be in MS' best interest to drop the MSRP to $400 and sell the Kinect separately, as was done with the 360. There could still be a more expensive bundle that includes the Kinect.

Bundle the Kinectless SKU with something more "core" like Halo, and the Kinect-included SKU with something like Kinectimals. Easy peasy.

I think about it being like the 2DS. People wanted a more basic piece of hardware that lacked the bells and whistles but was more affordable, so Nintendo provided it. It sold. Microsoft may want to consider following suit. It doesn't seem like most of the games they're producing rely on the Kinect anyways.

This is pretty spot on. +1

The 2DS is the best version of the hardware if you actually care about playing games, though. The controls are absolutely spot on.

If they made a 2DSXL I might agree. The XL barely has a large enough screen to be tolerable, and even then only for short lengths of time.

Cheating has gone hand-in-hand with gaming for centuries. Video games in particular often have cheats built right into the game.

Except the XL's screen looks like ass because it's zooming in the display to a resolution larger than it was meant to be viewed at.

It really isn't that much of a stretch, even on old DS games.
I doubt you own, or have done comparisons between, an XL and a standard 3DS.

If they want to lower the price to sell more systems then yes.

A lot of people don't want it any ways. They could easily lower the price of the X1 to $350 with out it.

PC game sales= more games then you could ever dream of owning.

Sorry, I've done just that between my friend's XL and his mom's 3DS. The XL is bigger, but the 3DS is crisper and cleaner. I will always take crisper over bigger.
