I'm surprised they don't force crushed blacks, blurry textures, screen tearing, lower fps and shoddy resolutions on full retail games on the competition in the name of parity. How big does a developer need to be to earn the right to possess integrity? Thank god people voted with their wallets.

How is this bad? If anything it's pro consumer cause why should another system get the game first or before me? It makes things fair it's not like they can't release on another platform just has to be at the same time.

When I was younger the kid down the road got a Gamboy before I did. It didn't take anything away from me when I got mine a few months later or for my little brother a couple years after that.

It's a childish mindset and the only. Ones really suffering or the xbox customers

Yes they do, and the gaming divisions in these companies have no say in it.

No, they don't.

That's why Don't Starve and others are available on PS4 right now.

Their legal depts and the lawyers do. You think the Xbox or PS4 teams actually write out legal documents?

Where did I say that they did?

These clauses are in there to protect themselves and are no different that the million page legal document you agree to when you play online. Do MS/Sony/Nintendo and the users follow those agreements to the letter? No.

So you've got any actual proof or is it all just strawman?

Remember that console manufacturers make their money from licensing and selling dev kits to developers, not actual game or console sales. The only reason a company would have to actively enforce such a policy was if they really cared about their end users experience to an obsessive degree. In reality enforcing a "parity clause" is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you would expect from what many consider "a company that doesn't care about gamers" since it only lowers their profits from licensing as many devs as possible. (Those missing cheap games you mention, right?)

You seem to have no clue what you're talking about, let me help you out:

Console manufacturers get a piece of game sales as well.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2010/02/anatomy-of-a-60-dollar-video-game.html

Around $7 for every copy of a $60 game sold goes to Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft.
These are called platform royalties.

If you would have done one simple google search, you would have known these devs get their dev kit for free:

http://www.xbox.com/en-us/developers/id

The parity clause IS the company not caring about the end user experience, it's saying MS childishly saying "You don't get to play with this, because others played with it before you".

So, let's sum up your post: no evidence for any of your claims, strawman, being completely wrong about how game sales work, being completely wrong about how these companies make their money (they don't sell dev kits) and no actual reason brought forth as to why this parity clause would be a good thing.

Good work!

Indie devs should stop being a damn fool about this I agree this is extreme yet you (keyword)
<AGREED> with it if you don't like it don't sign it, honestly I would do the console hardest to code that way we stick to the agreement but each his own
