Xbox One and PS4 on equal footing !

Heck, I don't own an XBox One but it's about supply and demand, that's all. There is an over saturation of XBox's, that's the only reason for the trade in value.

They do the same for Vita and 3DS. Makes sense.

Where's the "if you buy a new console and trade it in within the first 6 months you're an idiot" option. Everyone who's not a fanboy will own both eventually why throw away $100 early on?

I won't own both. PC gets many of so-called Xbox exclusives.

While the actual trade in credits are the same, you are getting $357.50 for a $500 system, and a $400 system. Meaning you are getting a better trade in value for the ps4. So, equal footing? No.. not quite.

Wait, why does PS4 even have a trade-in value? It's selling as fast as it hits shelves apparently. You're telling me that there are people out there that have purchased a PS4 and actually want to trade it in? That is ridiculous!!

They trade it in for less than they paid, rather than sell it for at least MSRP to the salivating masses that cannot find a PS4 anywhere, who have already ordained PS4 as the second coming and are waiting for M$ to sell the Xbox brand? Why would anyone do this? Unless gfaqs isn't representative of the real world...

On that note, Xbox One day one editions still available : http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Console-Day-Edition/dp/B00CMQTVK0

Still, it's like picking a Kia Sportage over a Porsche Cayenne if they're priced the same. Why?

I don't get why anyone would buy an X1 over a PS4 if they are the same price, except for fanboyism.

I have to admit, there are some reasons like controller preference, friends on the system, etc., that might influence someone to get the X1 rather than a PS4.

But, if there are no preferences going in for either system, you are absolutely correct.

I've been giving friends/posting that advice since December.

And, yes, I visit Eurogamer's Digital Foundry for X1/PS4 comparisons.

If you look at the power of the PS4vXB1 only, the PS4 seems to deserve to command more cash. But if you look at the retail price of each, you'll see that the XB1 is getting a deep cut [$142.50] vs the PS4 [$42.50]. The PS4 strengths help it maintain more of its retail value. It seems right.
