While the actual trade in credits are the same, you are getting $357.50 for a $500 system, and a $400 system. Meaning you are getting a better trade in value for the ps4. So, equal footing? No.. not quite.
Wait, why does PS4 even have a trade-in value? It's selling as fast as it hits shelves apparently. You're telling me that there are people out there that have purchased a PS4 and actually want to trade it in? That is ridiculous!!
They trade it in for less than they paid, rather than sell it for at least MSRP to the salivating masses that cannot find a PS4 anywhere, who have already ordained PS4 as the second coming and are waiting for M$ to sell the Xbox brand? Why would anyone do this? Unless gfaqs isn't representative of the real world...
If you look at the power of the PS4vXB1 only, the PS4 seems to deserve to command more cash. But if you look at the retail price of each, you'll see that the XB1 is getting a deep cut [$142.50] vs the PS4 [$42.50]. The PS4 strengths help it maintain more of its retail value. It seems right.
