YOUR TV setup; can you tell the difference between 720p/1080p?

If you aren't using an hdmi it'll look like you're looking through a google glass. Otherwise no I don't see the difference except for a few detailed wrinkles.

60inch 1080p plasma.

Yeah, you can tell the difference, a good game is going to be good despite the resolution.

It entirely depends on your setup. If you're sitting directly in front of a 30" monitor, it's going to be unmistakable. That's why PC games put such an emphasis on resolution AND frame rate. If you're sitting across the room from your 50" monitor, however, differences become less noticeable.

Here's a handy chart regarding this topic: http://i.imgur.com/P6KASEQ.png

That chart is pure B.S.

You can stand 15 feet away from a 32" 1440p monitor cycle through three resolutions and clearly see the "full benefit" (lol). According to that chart 1080p would only be "fully beneficial" at less than 6ft away.

Any idiot can use excel to draw some graphs, it doesn't actually mean anything.

I have a 1080p 40" Sony HDTV and I can clearly see the difference with 720p and 1080p, do I care that much? No, do I prefer 1080p? Of course

Also, for me, sitting distance needs to be very far away to not see a diference between 720p and 1080p, and since I sit close to the TV, I can see it...

I have perfect vision. The difference in resolution is minor to the point that it is not really noticeable. At this level the difference in image sharpness is small.

Your vision obviously isn't as good as you think it is. Time for a trip to the ophthalmologist.

.

i second that opinion if it hasn't been done already (I'm working my way down this thread filled with "hard of seeing" posters).

I've got a 50 inch 1080p TV, I sit 8.5 feet away from it.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is somewhat noticeable depending on the content. If I lean forward I'm at 6 feet, at that point it's more noticabke but I can see individual pixels on my TV, which is too close.

It's obvious why developers cut down from 1080p, the 40%+ extra processing power can be used for nicer graphics or better framerate, and the difference is hard to spot.

I work in a recording studio and do a lot of graphics, video editing, and special effects. I use 2 screens, one 32" 1080p, and one 27" 720p. After the first day of using them it's very easy to see the difference between the two resolutions.

I can absolutely tell the difference between my HD cable and a movie on Bluray. Topics like this are so ridiculous. There is absolutely a clear difference.

I can, but I'm not bothered.

This

This, why the hell does it matter? I can tell the difference and my eyes suck.

If anything I would rather have better frame rate or better graphics then 1080p.

Kids, I swear....
