Have they ever publicly said why a $500 system is valued the same as a $400 system?

Probably because of the sales that placed it at $450 with a game token.

Maybe, they shouldn't have put the price back at $500 though.

349.99 just for the console.
(best competitive price, hardly anybody would pick it over a ps4 side by side at equal price.)

69.99 for Kinect 2.0
(i'd say 99.99 but no one would buy it at that price, most would just buy a game and something else)

So I couldn't vote my choices aren't up there.

Could be worse. Look at Sony adding $50 to PS4 in Canada with no added value to the consumer.

Even though you probably know it was Canada that jacked the price, who cares.
Even at 450 it's the better console and well worth it,
it's still outselling xboxone in NA so I guess people don't mind paying extra to own a ps4.

The free game and because the large amount of used XB1's that have been traded in. Even PS4's are aren't crazy hard to find used (My store has 2 atm with 6 XB1's)

He's talking about trade in value at Gamestop, not retail value.
