If insomniac owns the rights to sunset drive

Chances are the publishing deal is similar to the Gears one, where the game is exclusive to MS platforms and MS gets right of first refusal on future entries in the series.

Yeah, just like Insomniac owns Sunset Overdrive. MS had exclusive publishing rights on Gears and will on Sunset Overdrive as well.

Here's how this works:

Insomniac owns the rights to the IP and can do what they want with future installments.

Microsoft owns the PUBLISHING rights to Sunset Overdrive 1, they're the ones who's funding its development. Before it can go anywhere else, they need Microsoft's permission first. It sure as hell won't go to PS4.

Whether the sequels are on PS4 depends on if Insomniac can find a different publisher, we'll just have to see about that.

If the first one sells well you can bet your as EA or Activion would be more then willing to publish the game for both X1 and PS4.

But they probably can't since MS will have most likely built a right of first refusal into the contract, meaning MS gets first crack at publishing the sequel. That's what they did for Gears.

But considering how adamant Insomniac was about having control of their IP, that's likely not the case.

Pretty much the only way that any publisher would fork out the cash for a AAA game without IP ownership is if they have right of first refusal on future titles in the IP. Insomniac owns the IP and can do whatever they want with it, but the tradeoff is most likely that MS has dibs on the publishing of at least one more title.

Does that mean that they can just release it on other systems like the pc, ps4 etcc later on? Or will it be just exclusive to ms since they're are ones publishing ?

Ninja Gaiden II was published by MS, so anything can happen with it.
