If I were to buy an Xbox One, can I swap the hard drive with any hard drive?

As others have said, no swapping HDD on the Xbone.

Wait a bit, they'll do a 180 soon about this, just like the rest.

Not 180. They'd have to redesign it to allow for swapable HDDs.

You cant swap the internal, but external support is coming.

LOL at swapping on PS4. The walking Sony infomercial strikes again. TC asked about the Xbox One.

PS4 allows swapping the drive! :D

.

To do so, you have to take apart the system.

You mean like my gaming PC?

One panel but OK.

Two men* walk into a hardware store** and start arguing over which of their lawnmowers*** is better. Sounds stupid, doesn't it?

Can't swap it for any hard drive you are stuck with 500 gigs

Really? LAME!

Yeah it is, but you will be able to just plug in any external drive into the USB3.0 port soon and store your games on there.

Some people find that easier than swapping the HDD since you dont need to do data transfers, but others just prefer the convience of having one high capacity HDD with everything on it.

Either way, there will be expandable storage in the future, so it shouldnt deter you from getting the console.

Actually, you just have to slide the shiny plastic hard drive cover back, remove one screw, remove the mounting bracket and remove the four screws to remove the drive, put the screws back in to secure the drive, put the mounting bracket back in, replace the one screw you removed to free the mounting bracket and slide the hard drive cover back into place. Less than five minutes, hardly "taking the system apart."

If they did they'd have to do so in a new model as to put in a new HDD in the current Xbone it requires voiding the warranty.
