The logical part of that obsession for consumers is based on what games come out, I believe. And that is something this Forbes writer leaves in the dust, as someone speaking for investors and corporate interests. When it comes to games, one console or another "winning" has a mediocre significance, though its effect is major if hardware "loses" greatly (as are the cases with the Ouya and the Wii U).

Then there are exclusives, which are factors that affect sales, not the other way around. Those interest me the most, but hold little bearing on popularity in most cases.
