What's the minimum internet speed to broadcast on twitch?

My friend bought an Xbox and trying to get twitch to work but his Xbox says his internet is too slow to stream. He tested it at 6.3 mbps download and 0.55 mbps upload.

You'd think they'd just upload it with super poor resolution or something.

I'm not too sure what's needed for twitch, but that speed isn't even a megabyte per second.

He's going to run into issues uploading 1080p, but he should be fine with 720p if my streaming is anything to go by. I only get 5Mb/s down, and can stream 720p all day. I would think that as long as he's not trying to upload raw video, he should be fine.

Download wise it's ~660 kb/s. Mine's 160 kb/s so I guess when I go next-gen I'm screwed too.

What do you mean by raw video, as in uploading as he plays? I wasn't aware there was an alternative. Can he have it on a 5 minute delay or something?

Plus Twitch works off of your upload speed. So your internet speed for uploading is 0.06875 megabytes. Just imagine how long it would take to upload 100s of Megabytes to the internet.

Right now he's getting a different error. It says he's good to go but needs Gold first. He has Gold already from his 360 and used it to connect his Xbox One (just got Xbox One today).

He tried using the 14 day free voucher afterwards but it said he already has Gold.

Never mind all fixed, just had to hard reset through the controller.

Yes he will run into issues uploading in 1080p, especially since the "Xbox One streams at 1280x720, 30 fps, ~2.5 Mbps on Twitch"
