Will there come a point this gen where more console games will have 1080 native res along with 60fps gameplay than those that do not? - Results (59 votes)

like a majority of released A and B tier games. obviously shovelware and movie tie-ins notwithstanding.

seems like everything now is 720p-60fps or 1080p-30fps, or some other in-between res-fps combo.

will the 1080p60fps standard (read:hype) prior to this gen ever come true...

It will depend on the developers, the type of game, and what is actually included in the game. In other words, I think we will see lots of games at 720p, 792p, 900p, and 1080p with frame rates between 30 and 60, especially since some games will not be locked at a steady 60fps.

actually you bring up an interesting point. backported titles could very well have some legitimate out. Still tho, how many this-current-gen-only or exclusive titles have aimed for the gold standard?

No 1080p and 60pfs will always be the target but not the standard.

Even later in the generation when developers are better at harnessing the console power, the result will be, they use even more complex and detailed textures rather than higher resolution and speed, which require more power to generate, so 1080p and 60fps won't be achieved then either.

Nope. Not enough hardware for that. We are going to see 1080 and targeted 60.

No. If anything I think it will happen less and less this gen. As the developers learn to crank more and more juice from the systems they'll simply use in on other things (graphics/enemies onscreen etc.), leaving 60fps/1080p an unattainable status for most big budget games.
