Average Internet speed in the US is around 15-20 Mbps. If you're a gamer, you should pay for a faster connection.

If you're stuck with a 2Mbps connection, put some of your gaming budget into getting better Internet. Or find a new hobby.

Video games, by nature, are a hi-tech hobby.

Average speed is 10Mbps, what is amazing it
Is it has only barely climbed in a decade. Doesn't matter if you know it is a hi-tech hobby if the companies where you are restrict your access, like many areas.

I think 10 is plenty to game online, I have 50Mbps, but once you hit Central U.S., the max internet is usually around 15Mbps.

16TB? OKAY then.

Also a better reason is read/write speeds. Sorry, external has slower speed than internal mounts. That alone affects performance. But you'll have to deal with it since you can't swap. PS4 can use external sources too. So more options anyway.

Actually, the USB 3 connection required for the external hard drives is faster than the internal SATA 2 connection. Plus, if you get a drive that's above 5,400 RPM it'll increase the spead even more over the internal drive. Lastly, external drives are awesome, because when I hooked up my 4TB drive I didn't get 3.5TB (due to losing the internal 500GB), I gained 4TB.

The more you know.

WRONG. a faster spin won't mean jack if the bandwidth transfer isn't there to match.

The more you know. Enjoy adding more clunk to the outside of an already oversized console.

you're using that as a stick to beat xbox owners with? really? aside from that being pathetic, just so you know, hard drives these days arent the size of houses.

also, there are many many many many reports from folks showing that loading times from external drives rather than the internal are much quicker.

These updates are a deciding factor on if I buy a game or not. I live semi rural but still only 5-10minutes away from the suburbs and our internet is a joke compared to surrounding suburbs...and I know a lot of people on internet forums dont have any idea of the world outside the little bubble they have created but a lot of people cant afford to do these f***** updates so this bulls*** has to stop!!!

I feel you man. Spoiled urbanite kids can't understand or have been around yet. Think their standard is the only thing. 10, 15 GB "patches" are asinine. Developers need to stop being lazy and release a more complete game at launch.

Now instead of popping in the game and playing, you need to download a massive 10GB patch? And that's if your internet maintains connection. if you get disconnected, you gotta do it again. it's a long wait.

Not every person in USA (which ranks lower than korea, japan in ISP speeds too) can download at 100MB/sec. a real hassle in the end. Especially with the default 500GB HDD.

Not only that for 10GB of internet thats going to cost me $100 so since the game will be $100 also then realistically I will have to pay $200 for some game and there is no game in the world worth that much to me

Is it wrong of me to want games complete on release? I really really don't mind patches... But this just screams not finished
