Resident Evil Remake, RE: Code Veronica X, Dead Space 1 and 2, Silent Hill 2 are other games that were scary/freaky to me.

Hah, came here to say Fatal Frame series. See it's pretty popular! Great games! I also have Kuon (similar style game) if you want to check that out as well, for PS2.
An unexpected creeper came in and destroyed everything while you were trying to do something?

I know it's kind of a joke now, but the original Resident Evil at release was pretty tense once you got over the acting. It kinda dulled the effect of future horror games for me. Silent Hill 1 and 2 were the only other games to come close. Honorable mention to Scissorman in Clocktower.

I guess I got all the scares out in the PS1 days, stuff like Fatal Frame or the original Dead Space I would say have great atmosphere rather than a sense of dread, like going through the sewer section of Silent Hill.

Myst..... I had no clue what it was when It came out and I was always on edge waiting to see someone show up out of no where on that friggin island!
