30fps vs 60fps

#21rx54Posted 7/15/2014 1:01:12 AM
I'd rather deal with occasional frame drops than have it being constantly garbage.

If it can be 60fps 90% of the time, I'll take that over 30fps 100% of the time.

I'm ok with either. I just don't want drops. Locked 30 without drops is better than 60 with drops to 45 or below.

This for me as well.

Same as well

Wait, isn't 45 fps still better than 30?

If it's solid, sure. When it suddenly bounces from 60 to 45 and back again; not so much. I'd also take a locked 30 over a wildly shifting 40-60 range.

You tell me. Go driving at a steady, even, cruise-controlled 30, and then, after an hour or so of smooth, steady sailing at that consistency, go for an hour of 60 speeds, where you're constantly braking hard down to 45, then racheting right back up hard with your foot on your gas. Do that constantly and without any consistent rhythm. 60, slam brakes to 45, maybe stomp hard back to 55. Slam to 45. Stomp to 60. Hold, SLAM.

See the problem?

I don't even like 60fps
It's like the game moves way too fast for my taste

Guess you don't like real life either, unless your eyes only run at 30fps.

Replace "it's" with "it is". If it doesn't make sense, use "its".
Same idea with "your" and "you're".

I hate when that happens in games. It breaks the immersion for me.

60 is obviously better but, for me, 30 is fine.

Simple and cuts to the chase--that is the answer for me.

Only concerned with multiplat performance, so if I can get the 60...

(Psst! I posted the video from my phone--since it's smaller than 60", I couldn't really check the accuracy.)

What kind of idiotic response is that?
FPS = frames per second. It won't magically make a game play in fast forward. It's just that animations will appear to be more 'fluid' with 60FPS rather than 30 FPS.
but I guess fanboys are too 'slow' to understand.

It's not just animations. The controls will be significantly more responsive and the game will play and feel better as a result.

There is no "vs", one is categorically superior to the other.

Metroid prime was 60fps locked and looked amazing 12 years ago

I believe Metroid Prime is the one that made me nauseous to watch, though I think the faint face reflection on the visor is partially to blame.

Cheating has gone hand-in-hand with gaming for centuries. Video games in particular often have cheats built right into the game.
