Earlier this year, Microsoft launched a promotion offering $100 towards a brand new Xbox One if you traded in your old Sony PS3 or Xbox 360 console. That promotion went on from January to March of 2014. Now, Microsoft has started this promotion up again -- in case you were hoping to snag that $399 Kinect-less Xbox One.

Simply take your PS3, Xbox 360 S, or Xbox 360 E to a local Microsoft Store and you'll receive $100 towards the purchase of an Xbox One. This is a fantastic way to get rid of your older generation console and with the new $399 Kinect-less Xbox One option, you can walk out of a Microsoft Store with a brand new next-gen console at a hefty discount.

There is no word on how well this promotion fared the first time around. Perhaps the promotion was so popular, Microsoft is offering it yet again. Or perhaps Microsoft has realized that this promotion will come in handy with the availability of the Kinect-less Xbox One.

Dropping the Kinect has already doubled sales, according to Microsoft. "Over the past month, we’ve seen a strong spike in interest in our Xbox One console options, including the new $399 offering, and the amazing lineup of games announced during E3. Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th, we’ve seen sales of Xbox One more than double in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

This offer is valid from now until the end of next month. Head over to your local Microsoft Store and trade in that old PS3 or Xbox 360! Here is the fine print:

"Valid 7/14/2014 until 8/31/2014, or while supplies last. To be eligible for trade-in, product must power on and be in fully functional, working condition without broken/missing components, cracked display/housing or liquid damage, cannot be password protected, and include original chargers/accessories . To receive maximum trade-in value, you must trade-in a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 E, Xbox 360 S console and purchase an Xbox One at the same time. Any appraised value will be determined at trade-in and provided as store credit, subject to Microsoft’s discretion and approval. All trade-ins are final . Not valid on prior orders or purchases; cannot be transferred or otherwise redeemed for cash or gift cards. Combinable with select Xbox One and Xbox Live offers. Discount does not include taxes, shipping or other fees. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Microsoft reserves the right to modify or discontinue offers at any time. Limit 1 per trade-in/purchase."

Does the store take RROD 360s?

It does turn on and displays something on the TV.
I just cannot play game.

Exactly what I was wondering, I currently have two 360's that both have the three flashing lights letting me know that Microsoft released a crap product.
This is one of the reasons I am very leery about getting an Xbone, I love my 360, loved both of the ones I have before they crapped out on me. I am simply cautious because I am expecting some kind of major screw up like there was last gen.

I myself will skip XOne unless it has a really good deal.

I own 10+ consoles.
360 is the only one breaks.

Pretty much this.

I'd love to take advantage of this, but I'm not going into Boston for it. Plus idk if they'd even take mine, it overheats if it gets above 80 in my room, and the sticker seal is broken for when I opened it to clear out the dust.

I take it they won't take my old 360 Pro with chips around the exterior? It is actually a relic though, and still works great.
