DOOM Xbox One will be "nitpicked to death" if we show gameplay too soon

Lovely click bait article there.

Take out the xbox one part and then you have the truth. They fear the whole game will be nice picked the death, not just the game on one platform.

Just eludes to the fact that XB1 has substantially inferior hardware compared to the PS4.

Don't blame Digital Foundry for exposing it's flaws, it looks childish. The people have a right to know and I'm glad there is a site that informs the people.

So we won't see anything thanks to Digital Foundry and their 'bash Xbox for clicks' agenda. Great.

So posting factual information about performance is 'bashing,' now?

Stay classy, X1 board.

It's factual that a Mercedes C350 and BMW 335i (closest comparatives for competing vehicles) are close to one another in all numbered performance aspects and owners of either car love 'em. There will be a marginal difference between the two in various performance (or power...) areas with one superseding the other, but focusing on such minute details entirely as they pertain to the overall experience of driving the car (or playing the game...) changes the marketing and customer perception and customer focus for the worse.

I drive a Mercedes and we always argue one vs the other but we still are intelligent adults and know it's more of a game to one up the other when at the end of the day the differences are marginal and we don't really care. This is exactly what the console wars are like except people do care for some reason, even though we're arguing $70,000 cars vs and this is $400 consoles vs and we still don't take it as seriously as console people do.

Dude, it is a digital comparison website. They are doing what they have been doing for years and posting facts about performance and backing them up.

Thing is that because of the nature of the hardware used in the consoles, by and large, these comparisons favor the PS4.

Because of this people on this board consider it 'bashing' when, in actuality, it is just being a legitimate source of information.

You're absolutely right, the problem stems from the "fans" of Sony treating this information as a game breaker and defining feature of a game which entails unequivocal proof that a game is good on x console but horrible on y console and thus y console is garbage, when that is far from the truth.

The point is more that the fanboys use it as fuel for their imaginary war. The truth is multiplat games run better on PS4 because the hardware is better. TBH I would think the people at DF would be rather bored of this gen already. I can imagine it at the office:

"Oh, another multiplat game on PS4 and Xbone? PS4 version will be marginally better again, run the usual FPS monitor and post a video, then write something that sounds like we did more than that"

Last gen it was more fun to compare games because the hardware was so much closer in spec, but widely different in architecture.

If the disparity between the XBOX ONE and the PS4 wasn't so great, to effect things like resolution, frame rate, screen tearing all being worse on the XBOX ONE then this wouldn't come up for every multi platform game. The blame lies with the people who designed the console for TV and cable above all, not the game communities reaction to it.

You do know that the graphical disparities between consoles were much more prevalent in every prior generation, even 360 vs PS3, but that conversation has never taken the forefront until this gen, right? In the same way that the graphical difference between generations lessens with each new gen, the difference between each of the consoles in each new gen lessens as well, but fanboys (and you know what category you fall under even if you act aloof) act like it's the end all be all for games nowadays.

That's because the disparity is greater than ever this gen. Last gen there were comparison articles when there was a difference between games that was noticeable. Now, EVERY SINGLE AAA TITLE is better on the PS4 and this is new territory for the media and consumers alike. Again, its not the media and communities fault. It's the TV and cable focus where Microsoft lost their way.

The article really show that even developer are sympathetic over inferior version on xbone. We all should too.
