Code Veronica to Resident Evil 4

Code veronica was the last true resident evil game.

And it pales in comparison to RE4 in every conceivable way.

Cant quite think of an Xbox series with a huge leap right off the top of my head, but I recently picked up the Killzone Trilogy for PS3 and the jump from KZ1 -> KZ2 is unbelievable. And it was a launch title. Still holds up pretty well, even looks better than some releases on this gen IMO. Having said that, the gameplay isn't quite spectacular or anything. Seems like more of a tech demo for the PS3.

Only using original to first sequel examples, I'm sure theres many more, but -

Street Fighter to Street Fighter 2, hands down the best improvement from original to sequel in video game history as far as I'm concerned.

Diablo to Diablo 2. Its Diablo 2!

Killzone to Killzone 2, though I'm still not particularly fond of the series anyone disagreeing on this being an improvement is a loon.

Uncharted to Uncharted 2. Generic action game with impressive visuals for the time that somewhat eased early PS3 drought but not really to one of the must play games of the generation.

Meat Gear Solid to Metal Gear Solid 2 - Good game to well... Metal Gear Solid 2.

Assassins Creed to Assassins Creed 2 - though I lost interest at 3 again so I have no idea how that evolved.

KZ and KZ2 were not launch titles, so...

Warcraft to Warcraft 2 is easily the best answer imo

People forget how meh 1 was and how simply amazing 2 was at the time.

I came in to say Mass Effect 2, but then I read someone else say Street Fighter II and I can't deny that no game improved more from original to sequel than Street Fighter. Mass Effect 1 was very good. The original Street Fighter was terrible. Brings back bad arcade memories.

THIS. Maybe the single best improvement in a gaming series ever IMO.

I will try and see it from your point of view, but I doubt we'll be able to fit both our heads up there.
