So XBOX ONE sales are not exactly brisk, XBROS! :(

Microsoft, like all large, publicly traded companies, puts out quarterly results, offering us an insight into how the company works and how it spends its money. These are usually only fascinating to stock investors, but this quarter had a rather depressing tidbit about how the Xbox One has been doing. Hint: Badly.

First, we should note that Microsoft announced, ahead of dropping their quarterly report, that Xbox One sales had more than doubled with the introduction of the Kinect-free bundle, so presumably that trend is holding. Itíd better, because according to Microsoftís own numbers, it moved approximately 1.1 million game consoles in the final quarter of its 2014 fiscal year. Itís safe to assume the One is the majority of those sales, but even so: Ouch.

Yes, that includes Xbox 360s. If you were wondering how the PS4 was doing, we donít actually know, but itís outselling the One, we know that much.

To be fair, historically speaking, the Xbox One is outstripping its predecessor in sales by just about every imaginable metric. Itís only suffering in comparison to the PS4, and sales are naturally slower during the summer as people go outside and do things, and as game publishers adamantly refuse to put out anything. Seriously, did you see last weekís review schedule?

We can expect a bump as the holidays get closer and people are driven indoors by the cold. Still, though, Microsoft is faced with the problem of catching up with a competitor that, at this rate, might lap it in sales before the first year is out.

Exactly, wonder how many times websites can get away with posting the same "news" over and over.

PS4 is the new wii and for casuals. Sony admits this, so can you. Xbox One is doing great because it is for gamers.

Didn't you just say the opposite two days ago, XBRO? I'm starting to think you aren't a real XBRO at all!

It feels like we're going back to the glory days of the original Xbox. Despite being massively undersold against the PS2, the XBX had a far superior library and far superior community support and online service. The 360 was decent, but Microsoft got comfortable being in 1st and they got lazy, so now that the XB1 is behind they're going to have to get their asses in gear like they did with the XBX to make this generation count.

In the long run, lagging behind is going to benefit the Xbox and PS4 could questionably end up in any direction. If they get over-confident with their success, they could end up in a scenario similar to their PS3 launch, which bombed ever worse than the XB1's launch did.

ITT: people keep ignoring the fact that the Xbone did great in 2013 but has been on a downward spiral ever since 2014 began. It's outsold the 360 overall thanks to a much bigger initial supply but is now doing worse on a monthly basis and is on track to be outsold by the PS4 2:1 with no signs of stopping.
