What weird crap would they add to it?

A light bar that drains battery.

The light is only led which uses very little battery...I would say it uses less than rumble triggers

I hate both controllers w/ passion. The Xbox One controller's trigger don't have nearly enough resistance, the bumpers can't be pressed from the upper area, the home button is placed in an incredibly awkward position, and the build quality itself is abysmal, constantly squeaking during gameplay.

I think the light bar is pretty much useless so

useless + uses battery = drains battery

As for the rumble triggers I do sort of agree. I like them when they are used a little bit, but some games have them way too strong (Ryse).

Last two generations Xbox controller in my opinion was superior to the dual shock.
Again this is just my opinion, but this generation the dual shock is superior.
Better build quality and far more comfortable.

Xbox controller is far superior, but the ds4 is a huge step up from the awful ds3. The ds4 battery life is atrocious however.

I recall some people disconnected the light bar and it had minimal impact on the battery life. The main cause seems to be the TouchPad, which is primarily used as an extra button and not really worth it.

Luckily I have two controllers and don't get to game enough to have even one of them fully die yet...
