What is an Exclusive?

Circumstantial and contextual parameters!

Exclusivity refers only to the parties excluded, not included. I don't know why simply etymology isn't questioned. In fact, we tend to misuse the word. We should actually use the word, "inclusive" more often - it's much more appropriate.

When did the PC become a Microsoft platform?
Is it because of it's operating system? because if that's so then that means that every Dreamcast game is also a Microsoft exclusive as it runs on a Microsoft OS.

Titanfall is the only reason that people say "Microsoft exclusive", and it's a stupid thing to say. People only talk about exclusives because they are reasons to buy a particular console. Games like Titanfall and TLoU aren't significant exclusives (for the next-gen consoles at least) because > 80 million people can already play them on their current console.

Noting that a game is a console (also on PC) exclusive is a bit more significant because high-end PC gaming is a limited demographic historically.

An exclusive game is a game that is only available on one platform. If you try to qualify it as something else (i.e. console exclusive - Planetside 2 on PS4/ MS exclusive - Titanfall) then you're a fool as you take away the whole exclusive nature of an exclusive.

Well, how I see it, a game released on the PS4, the PS3, and PC but not Xbox One or Xbox 360 is still Sony exclusive. A game released on the Xbox One, the Xbox 360, and PC but not PS4 or PS3 is a Microsoft exclusive.

a title available exclusive to one platform.

If it's on 360 and PS3, it isn't exclusive.
If it's on PS3 and PS4, it isn't exclusive.
If it's on PS4 and Xbox One, it isn't exclusive.
If it's on PC and Xbox One, it isn't exclusive.
