That's why it's in beta. The pricing model will definitely change for the better.

No that's just what sony had planned all along

They artificially hike up the prices so when people complain they can lower them and look like the "good guy" company that listens to its consumers

Blaming the high prices on "beta" is pure bulls***. Someone manually put the prices in, the system didn't automatically generate them because it's in "beta"

Hmmmmm, maybe you should wait until it's out of beta and the pricing model is finalized before going off on such a tangent.

Hold the phone - so because Sony's enacted a questionable business model, it's shrewd to "wait and see", yet when Microsoft does, they're "done"? Surely you can see the incredible hypocrisy in that.

Now, I'm not saying you're WRONG - far from it - I'm sure even Sony know that fifty dollars to rent F1 2013 for PS3 is utterly absurd, and they'd do well to alter that. But when I've waded through quagmires of topics saying how Microsoft have sealed their fate and made their mistakes (and are immune to retribution) - that when Sony makes similar gaffes that they get to "wait and see"?

You know what I mean here, right?

People defending oh just wait it's in beta, so why jack up the prices in beta, and if it's in beta it should be free to test out. Don't charge people to use a beta something that's incomplete. (Don't bring up well pc's do it, screw that, I won't pay for alpha or betas)

Hey, I'm all for betas. People forget betas aren't demos, they're betas. Tests.
But a bad decision is a bad decision, and it can always be rectified. What I don't get is how Sony is "allowed" by the majority of fevered posters, but Microsoft is "gouging" and "can't get away with this!" - they're exactly the same. You can't possibly hold one set of standards for one, and then change it up for the other.

Sony figured out a way to make you pay for games you already own. is that a good thing? I honestly don't know much about the service. There's no way they're letting people play old games for free.

No thanks PSnow is horrible, why would i waste 5 or 6 dollars to rent a game for a few hours when 90% of the games i can buy used for around the same price and play on my 360.

Two for-profit companies :

EA Beta : "They are just going to raise the pricing and just screw over customers. This is HORRIBLE for gaming!!"

PSnow Beta : "They are going to keep lowering pricing and make it a much better deal for customers. This is the FUTURE of gaming!!"

This board rocks.

EA have already proven themselves to be the worst when it comes to nickel-and-diming their customers. As for Sony I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt after all the pro-consumer things they've done this gen and last and their very open communication with their fanbase.

The same Sony that raised the price of their console after release in Canada?

Another favorite of mine is when Sony does anything remotely consumer friendly, they're basically worshipped as gods. If MS does anything consumer friendly they get even more hate because it's seen as desperation or a trick to get more money out of people.

I don't get the constant worship for Sony, they care just as little about their customers as MS or any other for-profit company.

Very good points are being made here. Both company's are judged very differently by the fanboys. In fact I'd love to see someone give a good, non biased reason as to why it is that way.

The Xbox one forum should be called the "Xbox vs Ps4" forum.

If I wanted to play old games on my newer console it would have to be me being able to put my discs and play then. I dontvwantbto buy the same game I own again just to play it on a newer console.

You make it sound like you're being forced to do that which is just dumb.

Wii U can play Wii discs, PS4 just got PlayStation Now in open beta status which made more than 100 PS3 games playable on it, but the Xbox One..... well it can't play 360 games in any way.

This to me is a huge issue and Microsoft should address how they plan to make 360 games playable on Xbox One. PS Now's streaming works great, they should follow that form of playing last gen games

Both next gen consoles use x86, a different architecture than last gen machines. Ruins backswards compatibility. It would be nice to have it, but I would guess 90% of x1 owners have a 360 anyway.

Uh, my xbox 360 is in my HDMI IN slot on my Xbox One. So, yes, my Xbox One DOES play 360 games. And this is fine with me until they release another way. Whats your point?

So that's your definition of backwards compatibility? ;)
