Then by all means make your case though I am pretty sure you are just mistaking passion for pretentiousness.

Wait, wait. You're defending Peter Molyneux? Seriously? The way he acts goes way beyond simple passion. He exaggerates and goes on about how groundbreaking his games will be. I'm sure he actually believes what he says but his games never deliver what he promises.

You're seriously the only person I've ever seen defend him.

The only guy in the industry I can think of off the top of my head who's more full of himself and his games than Peter Molyneux is Richard Garriott.

Perhaps you think if a game designer and by extension their game is pretentious then that means it's bad. That's simply not the case since pretentious is not a synonym for bad.

Even if Peter Molyenux is the very definition of pretentious the Fable games themselves aren't very pretentious as a result. They were never trying to be anymore than what they were, just heart warming Good vs. Evil Fables where your character could choose to embrace good or evil.

Compare that with a game like Assassins Creed where they act like they trying to explain the entire world with history, religion and sci fi elements. They made it seem like they had a great plan for the entire series, and it has been pretty clear lately that they were sort of figuring it out as they go.

I agree with TC here that Peter seemed more passionate than pretentious.

Don't let anyone else tell you which game is the most pretentious, cause this baby's MULTIPLAYER ONLY pretentiousness in game form.

I'm astonished it's still on Steam given how it only works if two people are playing that crap at the same time, which I can guarantee only happens when hell hath frozen over...then again Steam's quality control has been gone for a while, so.,.

Unfinished Swan, Bientot I' ete, MGS2, Far Cry 3 (seriously look it up), or anything by The Chinese Room are decent contenders for the title

Xenosaga.

It was a great series, mind, and I'd much prefer its well-read pretense and philosophy over the bog-standard JRPG hero/friendship/destiny tropes.

Actually Minecrafts not a bad answer, given the end credits sequence.
