Ryse is only headed to Windows PC. Don't people realize by now that Microsoft owns Windows? And even if it was coming out to Macs and Linux, the majority of PC gamers have Windows as their operating system, so Microsoft makes a lot of money on it. This is like the equivalent of Sony putting a game on both PS3 and PS4, it's still a Sony exclusive. PC is basically Microsoft's second "console", when are people going to realize that?

Microsoft only makes money from Windows, they don't make a cent on software that others develop.

Microsoft cannot charge a license fee because they don't develop the hardware. Without hardware, can't run Windows and Microsoft doesn't own any of the hardware patents If Microsoft tried to charge a license fee for Windows, the hardware vendors would just charge Microsoft a license fee and the only companies who would win would be the hardware companies, certainly not Microsoft.

Xeeh, your logic isn't going to work here.

You should know this by now.

This is the rather dubious part right here. There are no software licensing fees on Windows, ie Microsoft doesn't directly make any money from any Windows software not actually sold by Microsoft directly. Ie, if you buy a game for X-Box Microsoft receives a software licensing fee. If you buy a game for Windows they do not. Moreso if you buy the Windows version of the game you're probably not going to buy the X-Box version.

They do make money from you buying Windows of course but the thing kind of is - you'd almost certainly do that anyways. What else are you going to do? Run Linux? This is kind of the heart of the reason why Microsoft's constantly so schizophrenic when it comes to actually promoting Windows as a gaming platform. They do benefit from it and having games available on other operating systems would certainly weaken Windows' dominance *but* they have a definite conflict of interest and would almost certainly prefer that everyone ran their spreadsheets on Windows and their games on X-Box.

Heck, look at Steam. That could have been, should have been, Microsoft's market. That a then-tiny company like Valve was able to step in and take the lion's share of the Windows gaming market right from under Microsoft's nose is only possible because Microsoft stood by and twiddled their thumbs, never able to make a move for fear of hurting their X-Box division. And the faintest whiff of rumor about Microsoft going to a closed-garden has Valve putting their new found dominance to work promoting Linux and OpenGL...

Windows is a OS. There's not one physical part of a PC owned by MS (other than optional mouse, keyboard and xbox controller) the real thing games play on is GPU and that's either Nvidia or Radeon, neither owned by MS.

Microsoft and their absolutely amazing cloud processing console, The Xbox One -- can do unfathomed calculations graphically on a definitive level.

The next gen starts here.

XBOX ONE, ALL IN ONE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.

That probably happens quite a bit. lol

I agree! But the sheer amount of anti xbox people firing up windows 7/8 to post their anti-Xbox mail isn't irrelevant either!

To be fair many arent savvy/patient enough to use Linux based OS on their PC. Nor are there many software that support Linux OS.

Many use windows because its the most supported OS, making it easier to use, not because they want to. Only real other option would be going Mac.

No reason it should have to be, Android's a Linux.

A good game is a good game, regardless of system, res, framerate, and sales. Same goes for systems.
