Why does everyone want a high frame rate when our eyes cant see it?

If you can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 frames per second then there's either something very wrong with your eyes or you're being deliberately obtuse.

To be fair spikes and drops are the main times you notice anything when playing a game. If you had a locked 30fps and a locked 60fps most of the time you wouldn't notice the difference if they weren't side by side.

I keep seeing people posting this link trying to defend 60fps, but I don't understand why, when this link shows that they look exactly the same, even when put side by side.

It's a difference of night & day

First off those are side by side(see the end of my last post) and second a full game is worlds apart from that image.

Except they don't. 30fps is more jerky/twitchy, while 60fps is smoother.

These aren't the best clips to showcase it though, the easiest place to tell the difference is in a FPS where somebody is strafing in front of you. If somebody is moving very smoothly you can easily track them. When they're using more jerky movement it is harder.

Outside of competitive games such as FPS/TPS and Fighting games (RTS doesn't appear to need it) I'm not sure why people would make a fuss though.

Human brain is just like a camera. It takes slap shot of the world and process it 1 slap shot at a time. The human brain can't process more than 30 slap shot per second.
