3 uncharted games not including a portable one versus 9 halo games? Different genres being compared for the sake of specific arguments? check. Never change gamefaqs. Fanboys rock!

Also, gran turismo has sold roughly 63 million units across sonys main platforms.

Gran turismo has been around for 4 years longer than halo, and halo 3 and 4 alone have outsold the entire uncharted franchise at around 21 million, not to mention odst and reach which would put those four games over 30 million vs the 18.7 million for four uncharted games.

I remember when Halo 2 and 3 released, those games were marketed to all kinds of ridiculousness. A huge percentage of Microsoft's Xbox advertising money had to have gone just to those games in the years they released. Not to mention MS buying into MLG to have Halo be one of the flagship games for it, that also created a huge sales push for people that wanted to practice for or be in tournaments and possibly earn those huge prizes. Those prizes BTW, were partially sponsored by MS as well.

Then you have games like The Last of Us, which was marketed nicely, but not shoved in your face everywhere. Goes on to sell 7m copies in a year (not counting Remaster). If it keeps trending well the PS3 version of the game just may outsell Halo 3 or 4. Pretty good for a new IP eh?

It's still 2 million away from halo 4 and 5 million away from halo 3, it's doubtful that it will outsell either

Uhhh, maybe in 6 more years it will, considering Halo 3 has been on the market for 7 years. I don't doubt that TLoU will sell 2m more in the next year just on PS3. Although I would put TloU Remastered at a higher chance to outsell Halo 3, since more people will be moving onto PS4 and likely would pick that up with it, considering all the praise it's gotten.

In any case, Compare new IP to new IP, TLoU + Remastered is very close to outselling the original Halo + Anniversary if the press release about TLoU:R selling 1.5m is to believed.

Um, Gran Turismo is Sony's biggest series, and tops Halo's numbers...

Wrong. Gran Turismo USED to be the biggest series.

GT6 sold just 2.39 million

So you are basing the "biggest franchise" on the latest entry alone? Well then.. how much did Halo: Spartan Assault really sell? Can the Halo-series even be considered to be AAA anymore? Isnt it more indie considering?

Combined, it is still bigger than Halo. GT6 was released late in the PS4's life; so, many people decided to just move on to the PS4.

Gran Turismo: 10.95 million
Gran Turismo 2: 9.49 million
Gran Turismo Concept: 1.84 million
Gran Turismo 3: 14.98 million
Gran Turismo 4 Prologue: 1.41 million
Gran Turismo 4: 11.66 million
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: 4.16
Gran Turismo 5: 10.9 million
Gran Turismo 6: 2.39
Gran Turismo PSP: 3.15
------------------------------------
Total: 70.92 million
source: http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=gran+turismo

vs.

Halo: 6.43 million
Halo PC: .02 million
Halo (360): 2.25 million
Halo 2: 8.49 million
Halo 2 Map Pack: .69 million
Halo 2 PC: .07 million
Halo 3: 11.92 million
Halo 3: ODST: 6.24 million
Halo Triple Pack: .16 million
Halo Wars: 2.44 million
Halo Reach: 9.58 million
Halo 4: 9.08 million
-------------------
Total 57.37
source: http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=halo

10 Gran Turismo games vs 12 Halo games

70.92 / 10 = An average of 7.092 million per release (Gran Turismo)

57.37 / 12 = An average of 4.781 million per release (Halo)

Math, and common sense, says Gran Turismo has been a more successful franchise, and it has been enjoyed by way more players.

you're counting halo pc and dlc and a random offshoot (halo wars) to skewer the averages.

I counted Gran Turismo Concept, GT3: Prologue, and GT4: Prologue, which were all random offshoots as well. So, you just don't like it. Admit it.
