Still Deciding Which External HDD To Buy?

I just bought the above hard drive, and I love it! It was a snap to format and start using. Also, it has a sleek design and runs very quietly. I just thought I would share, in case other users are still on the fence about which one to buy.

I'm not sure inside the WD is a 7200rpm drive, from what I've read it's a 5400rpm hitachi drive.

Mmm. Anyone use a hybrid HDD with an external enclosure? Or just any External enclosure for that matter?

I know right now Hybrids and SSD's only have slight performance boosts in a few games. I hope in the future they will continue to improve on the One. I don't have a problem with storage right now, but I can see it being an issue in about a year from now if I don't delete any of the games I'm still playing. Otherwise I hear if you are using USB 3.0 and 5400 rpm then it's just about the same.

That's what I would be looking at too.

If the reason for buying it is performance, that is what should be looked at.

If it's simply for storage, and one doesn't care about the extra couple of seconds on loading, then it shouldn't matter much. I care about both. I'd be looking at 3TB 7200 drives.

Yeah me too hence I got a Seagate Expansion 3TB it's always hard to know but from what I've read that ones a 7200rpm.

It's also cheaper than the WD.

Hey, thanks that does look like the one to get. I was going to look into this again. But after going down the "platter size vs number vs RPM" issues when it came to playing large files on PC I didn't even want to look at HDDs again. MPC HC has issues when playing a large file (uncompressed DVDs or Blurays) from a 4TB drive and I never did really get it resolved, now I just use my 4TB drives for backup and move the files over to a smaller drive for playback.

I use the 3TB version of this HDD and I'm loving it. I just started using it for my Xbox One a week ago.
