MixedBag’s Mauro does believe it “depends a lot on the kind of game you’re making” though.
Microsoft Xbox One quote from May 2013 "We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics. We targeted it more as a broad entertainment player."

there is no excuse...this is something console gamers weren't afforded because the hardware couldn't handle it in the past...

1080p/60fp was the logical next step in console was so obvious that it was assumed that it would be the norm...

but they skimped on the specs to increase profit margin, or enable the forced kinect...overall it's a disaster...they would be smart to start working on the next gen right now

there used to be a time when gaming was exciting...but now it's just sneaky and untrustworthy...full of hype and double speak

Framerate jump is never a logical step in consoles though. Every console for the past 2-3 decades can achieve 60fps relative to their standard output resolution. Yet they consistently didn't. In trying to get the most graphical fidelity out of a console, framerate will always take a back seat to the 30fps standard in doing so. It always happens when you have a piece of hardware with a 5-6 year lifespan.

Stop expecting and hoping for it, it isn't going to become the norm with consoles.
