Polygon: 1080p will come to Xbox One games, but at a cost

Remember how Destiny was 900p beta on xboxone.
They promise 1080p at launch though.

Who else thinks MS shot bungie in the foot demanding 1080p as well?
They only got 30fps to work with as is...

Scary thoughts no?

NO! No one cares about Destiny!

It's a fake Halo by the makers of Halo! gtfo with that stuff!

We want Halo 5! That thing is legendary!

I wish both Sony and MS would stop with the whole, graphics over performance! Both should be doing 900p to maintain a stable framerate. I rather PS4 do 900p to have a nice stable 60 fps rather than 1080p and be hovering in the 50's like some of their other 1080p games, even going into the 40's in some cases. But too much pride, if they do that then everyone will jump on their case about it but it is partly their fault, all AAA publisher's fault, and the consumer's fault. Just everyone's fault for this "hey as long as it looks pretty, who cares if it stutters and slugs around?".

dat TF jealousy runs deep man. Let it go :)

Lol EA offered that free for a whole weekend on Origin the other week, and my i7 4770k GTX 780Ti system can easily max. it and I still didn't give that mediocrity a whirl.

This is caused by so called gamers caring to much about a non issue instead of gameplay.

I rather have 60 FPS over 1080p. I don't get why it's even a conversation because these games look great on next gen anyways. Even COD looks better.

Aww man. So now they're forcing developers. I thought Phil Spencer just denied telling developers what resolution to run. Another 180 or was he telling a lie?

.

I'm pretty sure they also forced Respawn to up the res of TF to 792p just so it wouldn't be 720p.. and we all know that game runs like ass on Xbone.

No. When fans are making such a massive deal out of 1080p its only natural devs will cut corners to hit 1080p otherwise people are just going to cry that they didn't. Its what people are asking for and focusing on, so devs are providing but at a cost.

At the end of the day I'd rather have a game at 720p and 30fps but loaded up with graphical sexyness than 1080p 60fps with lower textures, aa, shadows etc. When I want the complete package I game on PC.

A game at 1080p with no AA/AF looks significantly better than the same game at 720p with even the best AA/AF settings. There would be no point in high resolution textures when a 720p resolution can't even display the detail. Same with shadow resolution. You wouldn't have it set beyond the ability to perceive a difference.

Having higher graphics settings at a low resolution is like tuning up a car and ignoring the tires. No matter how much horsepower you can send to the tires, it's worthless if the tires themselves can't grip the road. You won't perform beyond the limit of crap tires.

Thank the Sony Camp for screaming like a child for 1080p/60FPS, and not giving two licks about gameplay. I wish Microsoft stuck with their original plan, and didn't worry about their competition that has no games anyone wants to play because they don't hit the resolution and frame rate standard for ALL their games =(
