I bought a 3TB external HD, Diablo 3 and The Golf Club today

Good purchases. I have Diablo for the 360 but only beat it with the Witch Doctor and never played the expansion so I had to get it. I love the game. I love golf games and thought Golf Club would be cool.....and it is. I only played one 9 hole course but so far I like it. It is the polar opposite of the Tiger Woods series so if that's what you are looking for, don't buy it. No power-ups, controlling the ball in mid air etc. It's a simulation all day. As far as the hard drive I bought, I had no choice. I only had 18 GBs left. O well. Overall good day though.

So you can put full games on the portable hard drives? What is the load time like when accessing the data?

Yep. All my downloads going forward will save on the external HD. I haven't messed around with it much, but I believe you could xfer saves/downloads between the XB and the external HD. Load time so far has been exactly the save as if you were using just the Xbox. It took literally 10 seconds to format when I plugged it in the first time.

^Yes, you are correct. You can transfer saves back and forth.

I bought The Golf Club yesterday as well. It's a very fun game. Challenging but very fun. Good purchases though!

Which HDD did you buy it should actually be a bit faster from the HDD if it were a 7200rpm drive.

It might be faster. I've only played Diablo which doesn't have any load times really anyways and Golf Club. Once you fire up a course it has ZERO load times so maybe I haven't played enough to notice
