More sad trolling and spin.

Spencer said 1080p is not some magical number and he's right. He never said it doesn't matter, Ryse dominates at 900p. I would move to see 900p games with more effects and such then forced 1080p.

But on a game like diablo where it can clearly be run at 1080p... Yeah

You're right, this is what he said:

"Reaching parity with our partners has been important," Spencer said. "But in the end I don't want it to be about a number, because 1080p isn't some mythical, perfect resolution. Frame rate to me is significantly more important to gameplay than resolution and the mix of those two which brings the right art style and freedom, whether it's on PlayStation or our platform."

So that's probably worse, seeing as how frame rate suffers from the 1080p in Diablo 3 (even if it is just slightly).

Ryse is one of the best looking games on consoles out right now.
But that doesn't mean 900p is somehow better than 1080p.

The game releases on PC soon, at 1080p with all of those graphical effects.

Oh and on the subject of if they were forced or not? Honestly? I'm more willing to believe Blizzard than I am Microsoft. Microsoft has a bit of a history of lying their asses off to us.

Would be funny in Blizzard dropped the res back down to 900p to call Microsoft's bluff, and get the game back up to 60fps.

Phil Spencer is tying someone down to train tracks right now as you read this.
I notice when Diablo 3's frame rate drops from 60FPS to 58FPS on the Xbox One.

The game is enjoyable, but for a 2 year old game it should have been 1080p without a problem.

Nonsense! MS has never screwed over its customers! Certainly not again and again....

This entire 1080P thing for Diablo 3 is kind of pathetic since the PC version still looks better and one can max Diablo 3 at 1080P w/ highest settings and maintain 60 fps on a $500 computer.

To be honest, we have no idea what has actually gone in. Journalists twist things all the time, developers will say things they don't actually mean or it could just come out wrong.

Don't really understand why people are making a big deal out of this at all. Shouldn't really be an issue.

If it's true, then it is an issue. They shouldn't have have compromised FPS for resolution. If it's noticeable, that is.
