The only think DA seems to have over FFXII character models is resolution, heck FFXII has better hair physics to boot, DA hair looks like plastic and acts like plastic.

So mokmudd proceeds to owning your cave man statement of PS2 graphics. Then you reply to him and make yourself look even more sad...I mean know the 360 outsold the 360 but this is just sad now.

Worried and comparing hair physics. Gamers today man.

He's got a point, although the PS2 thing is a bit of a hyperbole.

Some of the characters and textures from DA look pretty bad:

It doesn't help that they copy/pasted a ton of stuff from DA2, so they should have had plenty of time to fix all of those things.

DAO had very different experiences by race, gender and or being a mage.

Did it? Far as I can tell it only really effected some flavor dialogue but other than that not much at all really, I don't recall it ever changing the outcome of quests or anything of importance really.

The eyes were a bug that's already been addressed. I mean I heard and have seen all this in Bioware forum already.

Also towards reusing assets. How is that supposed to work with a new engine, at worst they reused the textures and rebuild the rest.

I think if there's one thing one can't criticize Bioware in it's scale.

The dragon pic looked hilarious though and the guy that's seemingly before and behind the tree lol.

Keep in mind most of the footage this is taken from is pre Alpha or Alpha.

They've clearly directly copied a lot of the clothing and weapons from DA2, with a few color changes.
Seeing as how the copy/pasting was a major issue with DA2, having a ton of copy pasting in promotional footage doesn't really bode well for the rest of the game.

I'm not criticizing the scale of the game, since I have no clue how big or small it will be. But if it's just copy/pasted everything everywhere, there is little point in having a large game.

It's all rather funny until you realize that this is promotional footage. Which means a lot of people looked at this stuff and said "Alright, this is good enough material to represent our game."

I think it's quite worrying that they would let obvious issues like the ones in that picture slide by and be used in promotional footage.

Same with the hand clipping in the promo photo of Sera. It just shows a complete lack of care and attention to detail.

Yeah, they did fix the man jaw on Morrigan since then, judging by the latest trailers.
But they replaced that with Leliana's power ranger fighting and hitting guys in full armor with the wooden bow stuff.

I really don't know how to feel about the game.
I want to be excited for it, but everything they release for it does the exact opposite.

Bioware has often opted to show footage directly from the game instead of embellished stuff.

Again how do you copy past stuff from an old to a new engine? I can see how that reusing assets is a problem for some but I doubt they can simply reuse them. DAO and DA2 were in the same engine so you could really just copy paste it, but to Frostbite?

What's your point? It's okay if it looks terrible, because that's how it will look in the game as well?
That's a pretty poor way of defending it.

Clearly, the armors and weapons are identical. I think we agree on that, right?

Which means they either remade the exact same armor and weapons with nothing to differentiate them from the ones in DA2 or they simply copied them to the new engine.

Why would it be a problem? It is not like 3D models are made so they can only be used in one game engine and one game engine alone.

An engine has usually set ways to read them. Otherwise it'd be a cakewalk to mod any game.

It's okay if it looks terrible, most of it doesn't even look terrible, if it doesn't look look like that in the final build. Clipping hands are really bad clipping clothing is much less of an issue, to me at least.

The armor and weapon look identical that's unarguable but I don't see the big issue, the game seems to have a lot of content so what does it matter if some, or even a lot, of it is reused.

The armor and weapons also look great.

That's pretty much the issue: the game launches in just a couple months.
It will look different and improved, no doubt about that.
But how much will be improved?

The copy/pasted backgrounds (rocks, building textures, etc) are most likely there to stay.
And if it's in the promotional footage, there will be even more of it in the actual game.

I understand that's not an issue for a lot of people, but it certainly doesn't inspire much hope for me that they actually learned from the previous game and didn't over do it this time.

The clipping itself was not the issue, it was the fact that they used it as promotional material. Which means dozens of people looked at the picture and they didn't notice it, even though it was so obviously there.

It matters because it's one of the the exact same major complaints people had about DA2: too much copy pasting.

If they were even too lazy to design new armors and weapons, how will the rest of the game be?

And it could be that it's just a small part, but we don't know that since the game hasn't released yet.
What we do know, is that in the small part we've seen so far, through trailers and promotional footage, there is already a ton of content taken directly from DA2.

Be honest here, you have no idea what you are talking about here do you? While I have never used Frostbite most engines support a variety of different file formats and I find it hard to believe that Frostbite would be any different, 3D models usually arent created in the engine but rather through 3D modeling programs like Blender or Maya or whatever the hell Bioware uses for their games and while there may be some tweaks that need to be made for the model to display correctly in Frostbite I doubt it would be quite the monumental task you make it out to be.
