Will an average person really see a difference between PS4/XB1 visuals/graphics?

We all know the PS4 graphics are superior.

I think the bigger issue is why are the XBOX ONE graphics so similar to the 360?

Can you spot the difference?

.

While I don't disagree with you, I don't think any game that has a Xbone/360, or PS3/4 multiplat is going to look all that good. At some point in development they just upscale the quality, instead of making it specifically for that platform.

MGS doesn't look much better on Xbone than 360, though I see the difference. But if 360 didn't have one, I bet it would look better.

it's a small difference, but it is noticeable to me. It reminds me of the first time I compared HD to SD. The average person won't care, but serious gamers will pick up on it.

That's absurd. The difference between SD and HD is massive, it doesn't get any bigger visually when comparing 480i/p to even 720p.

The differemnece between the One and Ps4 isn't anywhere near that level. Even the Wii U is closer to Xbone than the Wii was to 360

It is. I still remember getting my first HDTV. It was just a little 32" Samsung (720p) and I couldn't believe how visually stunning the picture looked compared to my old tube. I just couldn't believe it. Even when I booted up the dashboard I was blown away.

I remember loading my checkpoint in MW2 as I was halfway through the campaign when I had purchased my HDTV. My jaw was hanging over how beautiful I thought it looked, It literally looked like a completely different game to me. I immediately backed out and restarted the campaign from scratch just to relive the experience from a different perspective. The difference was huge. You'd have to have some awful vision not to notice the difference. It's monumental.

You'd never catch me gaming on an SDTV ever again unless I was playing the classics (NES, SNES, Genesis etc)

This is true, happens to PC gamers majority of the time with ports, it's only when the platform avg improves do we see increased graphics

Only in exclusives.

This.

Honestly the difference in graphics for multiplatform games is little like last generation.

Most people could tell the difference between 720p and 1080p

The majority will not notice the difference between 900p and 1080p

Yes, on larger TVs the average gamer will be able to notice the difference if he/she has time spent on both platforms. The lower resolution being upscaled along with AA will blur the image. It's not a huge mess but will show up on larger TVs. It's always there just not noticeable until you hit 46" and up at around 6' distance.

TL:DR Yes the avg gamer can if the tv is large or the distance is close. Which a lot of people like to use gamer chairs and others like to sit back on the couch so naturally they would prefer a larger TV.

TL:DR The Prequel - Yes

You're adding a few qualifiers there to make your statement true...

Is the "average" gamer playing on a larger TV?
Has the "average" gamer spent time playing the same game on two different platforms?

Further...has the "average" gamer played the game on one platform recent enough to even remember what it looks like when playing on the other platform?

They're pretty much identical.

I agree with what many here have said. If you were to put 2 consoles and the respective tvs side by side you would see the difference between 720p and 1080p on any larger tv. 900p and 1080p not so much. Does anyone actually do this ? Unlikely.

The more informative aspect of this is simply that the difference , if there is any from game to game , became ammo for the guns in a console war. If the systems had been identical in that respect you'd find these same people here on the Xbox board bashing for some other reason. People don't need much excuse to "join the mob" and start the hate. It could have been the molecular structure of the plastic used in the enclosures.

"Will an average person really see a difference between PS4/XB1 visuals/graphics?"

An average person? Maybe not.

An average gamer? I think will.

I actually consider myself an average gamer--but I've been doing it since that old yellow and black pong system.

I purchased both systems mentioned and play on a 60" HDTV. The difference is very noticeable to me.

Microsoft Xbox One quote from May 2013 "We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics. We targeted it more as a broad entertainment player."
