What an idiot, making bomb threats now. Hope they find him and lock his ass up.

Is there any protection against DDoS? I imagine the only option is to restrict access.

No not really, you can only react to the attack once it has begun by filtering out the IP addresses that are engaged in the attack.

Ddos attacks don't require skill of any kind... Seriously, they have to be the easiest and most basic form of attack I know of

People always talk about how DDoSing is a low quality thing yet it obviously requires some knowledge else everything would go down all the time

You can't do it so stop claiming it's so basic

It's actually as easy as downloading a program and putting in a URL, and clicking a button.

Lol

One computer has one IP address - that can't bring a network down.

You would need lots of hardware and huge bandwidth to carry out a DDoS attack.

Your gonna need some arrangements with your ISP to even get those thousands of IP's to even start thinking about DDoS. Then several servers running those thousands of IP's into Sony's network and crashing it with bandwidth junk.

Xbox live is way more secure than psn It's very unlikely

Not true. MS just shoots their security team to make sure no one finds out.

Seriously though, they did suffer something like a PSN hack a while back, but they did a better job of keeping it quiet. I mean, come on, Windows and anything MS has been under major attack since the 90's. It's just common sense.

Considering the psn is already back up , I wouldn't worry too much.

Xbox live is way more secure than psn

It's very unlikely

Don't forget, the entire ps3 Gen, users didn't have to pay for online so Sony didn't receive any monetary support to put in to the maintaining/security of their network

You get what you pay for

Steam got hit too you know by the same group . The xbox isn't safe from ddos attack .

Considering the psn is already back up and running I wouldn't worry too much.

PSN is still down.

PSN is down only for PS4, it's still up for PS3.
