Is there any protection against DDoS? I imagine the only option is to restrict access.
No not really, you can only react to the attack once it has begun by filtering out the IP addresses that are engaged in the attack. --- God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! not changing this sig until we have a King - started: 30/8/2008
Ddos attacks don't require skill of any kind... Seriously, they have to be the easiest and most basic form of attack I know of
People always talk about how DDoSing is a low quality thing yet it obviously requires some knowledge else everything would go down all the time
You can't do it so stop claiming it's so basic
It's actually as easy as downloading a program and putting in a URL, and clicking a button.
One computer has one IP address - that can't bring a network down.
You would need lots of hardware and huge bandwidth to carry out a DDoS attack.
Your gonna need some arrangements with your ISP to even get those thousands of IP's to even start thinking about DDoS. Then several servers running those thousands of IP's into Sony's network and crashing it with bandwidth junk.
Xbox live is way more secure than psn It's very unlikely
Not true. MS just shoots their security team to make sure no one finds out.
Seriously though, they did suffer something like a PSN hack a while back, but they did a better job of keeping it quiet. I mean, come on, Windows and anything MS has been under major attack since the 90's. It's just common sense. --- Future Billionaire
