Saw on a posting at another site that credit card information has been compromised. Don't know that a simple ddos attack would accomplish that. Also sucks that the supposed DRM-less PS4 has been exposed as more Sony BS, a lot of people can't play their games.

That's because they scrubbed up and didn't set it as their primary account. I can play both PS3 and PS4.

What do you mean by set it as their primary account? Also, can't they just play their games offline?

You go into your options menu and set your PS4 as your primary account
Nothing more to say
People just don't know how their console works - Those are the same people saying PSN,Battlenet and so on got hacked just cause they don't know what a DDOS is.

Btw seems like the flight go redirected

But I thought xbox live couldn't be hacked? :U

Of course it can

But as you can see, an attack doesnt take down everything abd its not down for that long.

Xbox live is way more secure than psn

It's very unlikely

Don't forget, the entire ps3 Gen, users didn't have to pay for online so Sony didn't receive any monetary support to put in to the maintaining/security of their network

You get what you pay for

It wasn't. I was playing Halo 3 ODST all afternoon long in co-op mode.

I'm pretty sure XBL has been hit by a ddos attack before and MS was on it. There wasn't much of an interruption.

From the looks of the ps4 board, it looks like psn had been down all day.

I'm not worried if this *** is able to do the same thing to xbl. MS was good about straightening it out in the past. I don't think it would be much of an issue now.

So this is something Sony is not prepared for? Can this happen to Live?

Microsoft being a software company and having a larger workforce that knows how to handle these types of things works in their favor when an attack happens. But I don't think there's really anything they can do to fully prevent it.

This.

DDoS attacks just spam pings to the server. Sony doesn't have much to do with servers, from a business standpoint, so they have to go to others for that tech.

MS has to have massive amounts of servers up for their 365 programs, so they can just spread Live as a protection.

Also, Sony is in more countries that have a high hack chance, so it's not just US/EU.

No games to play at the moment anyways. Hack away!

All you need is an ip address and you can take the server down ddos is really easy wouldn't really call it a hack just someone wanted to take a network down.

Actually the dude who did this to PSN actually did it because of how vulnerable Sony's PSN has been and actually praised MS and XBL for the way they handle network security.

Just read the description of the video he posted on youtube about why he targeted PSN:
