If 1999 Dreamcast had games 60fps.... Why not Xbox One in 2014?

I am asking out of curiosity
My initial thought about next gen consoles is improvement, even if its little but never steps backwards.
Why would next gen consoles have games that are less than 60 frames per second?
Why hurt this just to get images that look more realistic?

Because better graphics are marketed better than better gameplay. That, and Microsoft secretly telling developers ins unacceptable to go below 1080p, then they mess up framerate as the xbox one is not as powerful as the dreamcast was back then.

Sonic games were laggy as hell. It wasn't until it got released on PSN and XBL we finally got to see what atleast Sonic Adventure looked/played like with no lag.

Might also get a One one or two years from now because it seems to agitate ponies suggesting it might have something worthwhile after all.

60fps games are designed around 60fps. Like they are now.

SNES had 60fps games, your logic is broken and full of holes.

Ok so if even snes had 60fps why would modern games be designed to have less?
I dont see the logic

Good graphics makes more money than smooth framerates.
