Always on gaming

Seems always online gaming is going to be the future, with Destiny, The Crew and The Division all confirmed as always online games. Probably be more in the future. I dont see much backlash for always on games, so why the backlash when Microsoft wanted to make the Xbone always on?

Was it just because they never really explained why, where as for games its understandable some want to be always on

Mostly around consumer options.

With the system being always on, every game would carry the always on restriction, even games that have no online component and are single-player only.

For these always-on games, people who have an issue with it can avoid those games and play something else. Or if there is ever a reason someone can't hook up to their internet or the XBL service, they can fall back to a different title.

There will probably be more backlash going forward if every game decided to be always-on, but I don't think that will happen to every title down the line.
