Is this even an officially announced game yet?

If it is, they'd better go the Yoshi's Island route and not the Yoshi's Story route.

I would prefer a 3D game. It's 2012, and Yoshi still hasn't got one. Heck, I remember being mad about that already when Yoshi's Story was released, and that was in 1998.

2D games are fun, but I pretty much had enough with all the NSMB games.

And yes, Yoshi's Island >>>>>>>>> Yoshi's Story.

It's been listed by some retailers, but AFAIK, Nintendo hasn't confirmed or denied the game's existence.

I sure hope it's real, though.

There's been tons of rumors about a return to Yoshi's series for a while, particularly Retro developing it. I never played a Yoshi game before, but it seems like wasted talent to have Retro develop it. I mean, I'm sure Yoshi is awesome, but what I've seen from Metroid Prime, Retro is filled of great writers and I wouldn't expect a Yoshi game to have or need a good story, or a story at all.
